Stellplatz Römerstadt Carnuntum

Austria-2404 Petronell-Carnuntum
Park Overnight

What is that?
Park Overnight (PON) offers simple, legal overnight spots in parking areas—ideal for spontaneous and safe travel. The spots are meant for one or more nights and are perfect when you need a quiet, official place to park, sleep and continue your journey.
Stay where the Romans once lived: the RV site of the Roman City of Carnuntum is a simple, straightforward pitch at the edge of the large parking lot of the Roman City – ideal for discovering Carnuntum and the region by motorhome or campervan. The four designated pitches are located in a quiet, partially shaded area at the rear edge of the parking lot. When fully occupied, it is often possible to park a little further apart or slightly off to the side in the parking lot, provided there is enough space. Because we love camping, we offer discounted day tickets as a bonus! Show your booking at the cash desk and receive a reduced day ticket for up to 2 people at €13 each. The toilets in the entrance hall are available during opening hours daily from 9 am to 5 pm. For waste disposal, bins for residual waste, plastic, and cans are available. Right outside the door, the Roman City of Carnuntum awaits with fully reconstructed Roman houses and an impressive thermal bath. Just a short walk away is the Heidentor, the landmark of the region. Petronell-Carnuntum is also easily reachable on foot. Inns, wineries, and shopping facilities invite you to linger. The Petroneller Au and the Danube-Auen National Park offer numerous opportunities for walks and bike tours. The Carnuntum-Marchfeld region also attracts with the medieval town of Hainburg, the Marchfeld castles, and the nearby Slovak capital Bratislava. The pitch is located directly on regional cycle paths and near the Danube Cycle Path. Vienna is also easily accessible thanks to hourly train connections. Simply park, discover Carnuntum, and experience the region: the RV site of the Roman City of Carnuntum offers a practical base for your stay in one of Austria's most historic regions.

Far too narrow, branches hit the motorhome. Aligning is almost impossible
Pitch on a slope, somewhat lonely / remote and no infrastructure for €14! You get that in France for the same money!
Easily found, payment without complications, stood alone, parking space in front was empty, pitch somewhat uneven - leveling ramps were necessary, lots of deadwood and broken branches on the shrubs at the pitch, in the evening much flight operations to hear, but overall spent a quiet, relaxing night
Comment from Nomady
Kurtaxe, warum?
Comment from Nomady
Park Overnight gibt höher frequentierten Plätzen in naturnaher Lage einen zweiten Nutzen. So werden bestehende Infrastrukturen effizient genutzt und legale Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten geschaffen.
Super beautiful, guided tour recommended
The place is quiet, but only deserves 3 stars.
It's actually an outrage. Having to pay about €11 just to stay overnight in a huge, completely empty parking lot that has absolutely no infrastructure. Not even a toilet. Naturally, there are feces scattered in the bushes nearby, since not everyone has their own toilet. And because you've paid, you also have to walk across the entire parking lot to get to Carnuntum, which takes about 5 minutes. Thanks for nothing.
